Blurry Vision

Hi new to the forum so apologies if this isn’t clear enough or in the wrong section.

I’m currently suffering from increasingly bad blurry vision in one eye.

Control has always been good/very good and current HbA1c is 46.

I have had type 1 diabetes for 32 years now and was diagnosed with retinopathy in February that was serious enough to need laser treatment in both eyes.

after the treatment my left eye returned to almost perfect vision (with glasses) within a week but my right eye remained slightly blurry. A follow up appointment and eye scan suggested the blurriness was due to some fluid leakage but that there was no signs of any issues with my macula and I was advised to give it time to clear on its own.

Suddenly my right eye is almost useless due to blurriness, I cannot make out anything at any distance and it’s making day to day living really difficult due being unbalanced etc.

Has anyone ever had their vision in one eye become really blurry and what did you do about it? What advice/treatment were you given and did your vision improve?
I’m struggling to get seen right now due to the lockdown so any advice would be much appreciated.

If you have a sudden change in vision, you should phone eye casualty and speak to the on-call ophthalmologist at your local hospital. They should be able to advise you.

I have been in touch with someone regarding it but I’m they didn’t class it as an emergency and said they’d look to get me a check up ASAP, I’ve been told someone will be calling me on Wednesday to discuss it further, I was just wondering if anyone has had anything similar happen and what the outcome was. It’s slightly worrying to go from near perfect vision to cannot see a thing in 2 months

Jus5 to update this in case anyone is looking. I managed to get assessed today and have been told I have a bleed at the back of my eye. I’ve to go back in 4 weeks for a follow up but as it stands just now the consultant hopes it will clear on its own

Of course we were looking and, I might add, with bated breath hahaha. No I/We are happy that there was an outcome so that you know it is not just you but there is a cause and an effect going on. For future reference high blood sugars will ALWAYS blurr
one's vision. But also watch out for the creeping Cataract - it seems to be the same as high blood sugar but, usually, does not
occur in both eyes at once. There are eye drops that can control the Cataract (NB I did not say remove it). I had a 20% Cataract
in one eye and the eyedrops have kept it in check satisfactorily. DON'T LET EYE SPECIALISTS TELL YOU THAT THERE
IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO UNTIL THE CATARACT HAS GROWN TO FULLY COVER THE LENS - In the early
days and in my case one can continually see through the Cataract and vision CAN be corrected during that time. It should be noted that it can take up to 10 years for a Cataract to be suitable for the laser - I chose not to wait until blind in one eye but to use
the eyedrops. Cataracts can affect all ages but especially in those countries with poor diets. I hope this reply is useful to the OP and others interested in this condition. All of this info can be factually proven.

It's a funny problem with diabetes from 1 year to 60 years as in my case. I had laser treatment over 15 years ago and did not suffer from any side effect as some people are reporting .I then went onto cateracts being removed and since then I have 20/20 vision ,so just take care and look after your sight.
