Hiya - me again!

I'm becoming very frustrated since my diagnosis not quite a week ago. I've seen the dsn once and go back next week but i was hoping someone here can help me out. One of my most annoying symptoms has been the blurry vision,it stopping me reading a book, but more importantly i cannotread the nutritional (carb ) content on foods. Does anyone know how long this will last for? Since starting on the new insulin regime (was on novomiix now on Novorapid and levamir) I've had much better control.

Sorry for any typo s i can't see the blimin keyboard letters.

Sal

I also had the blurry vision problem when I started bringing down by Bg. It has taken a few weeks for my eyesight to return to normal levels.

Hya,
when first diagnosed my vision was horrible, once i started getting more control it got better, it took about 4 weeks for me :)

Hi Twinkle 1980, I had blurry vision prior to my diagnosis in June 2011. I have never had problems with my eyesight before and like you was very frustrated, I couldn't read a book etc. Once diagnosed as a late Type 1 and put on insulin I thought my vision would return to normal, but no it didn't. My control was pretty good from the outset, but my eyesight remained impaired. I was advised not to have my eyes tested for at least 6 weeks as it would be a waste of time. I then thought of buying some "reading" glasses from Superdrug. Success I was able to read normally which was a great relief and brightened up my life considerably during the horrendous time immediately after my diagnosis. My eyesight is near perfect again now and haven't been for an eyesight test although I have had 2 successful retinopathy tests. I do not wear prescription glasses and only occassionally do I need to wear my Superdrug glasses. Not bad for a 57 year old. Hope this is of help to you. Happy New Year to everyone on this brilliant site, regards Carole
