I did my weekly weigh-in and body fat measurement at my usual Boots branch.
The great news is I've lost even more weight, but my body fat percentage is up by 0.2%. At this stage I'm not too concerned, but it is not a trend I would like to see snowball.
First off, I'm curious as to why this is happening and where my weight loss is coming from (hoping it's not muscle).
Second, what can I modify to ensure that I consistently lose body fat? I walk anything between 5.5 miles and 10 miles a day and eat a very low-carb, high fat diet. I'm not eating any more than usual.
Third, am I just fighting my Thrifty Gene now that winter's on its way?
These days I step onto the scale every morning (same conditions as above), and just glance at the weight. That varies too, for similar hydration, how much I actually ate the night before (how much of it is still "on-board") and so on, and then once a week, I go through the whole scan (takes about a minute), measuring my weight, Fat %, Muscle %, BMI, Visceral Fat and resting metabolic rate.
Fingers crossed for you.
Your Omron is obviously posher than mine I just get weight, fat %, visceral fat % and BMI...
The Boots I use is on the way into work, so I might try it again on Monday.
I'm going to get to grips with the TRX and do more resistance work.
My protein sources are eggs, meat, fish, nuts cheese, cream and soya milk. I can eat small amounts of lentils and other pulses without a spike.
Since I've been on LCHF I'm actually consuming fewer calories as I feel fuller! I guess I could fit in a bit more protein if I needed to!
I do have scales at home, but they're not very accurate and I've had them for years. I've just treated myself to the Omron 511. It arrives tomorrow. While I'm waiting for them to arrive I shall do some training with my TRX.
If anyone's curious about TRX, here's a link: https://www.trxtraining.co.uk/products/trx-home-gym
I found out about TRX from a personal trainer I worked with years ago and I loved using it.
Good news. I stepped on to my beautiful swanky Omron scales today. I've lost another kilo and my body fat is decreasing, and I've put on some muscle. My visceral fat is on the low side of 'high', according to the very informative manual that comes with the scales. That has stayed the same since my inaugural weigh-in on the swanky scales on Saturday.
I've been reading up on visceral fat. Some websites say it's easy to lose, others say it'll take a while to budge. Doubtless the figure before diagnosis was very high. I'm now looking forward to that figure coming down more, along with my weight.
