i suddenly feel i am eating like a pig without acknowledging what my body needs and my insulin sensitivity is down the drain..the amount of fat in the food really makes it tough to assess the number if units especially when you go out for a meal.. how do you manage this?

I do my best to estimate the carbs in a meal when eating out. I can usually separate the carbs out from the fat in my mind. I don't Bolus for the fat itself although I know I should and might do for a bit for cheese. Can you explain your point about insulin sensitivity?

Hi @aditi , I never bolus for fat but, if the meals high in fat I'll split the bolus. A high fat content slows down the body converting the carbs into sugar so the bolus doesn't match the action of the carbs. So you'll drop first of all when the bolus kicks in but once it's finished the carbs kick in sending you high. I'll take maybe half before I eat and then the other half between an hour and two hours later to try and match the action of the carbs. Hope that makes sense..........
