Self absorbed and rude people! Motorists who are oblivious to the rest of the world, and really don't give a ****!
I am wondering if anyone has read and could possibly recommend the following books:
Blood Sugar 101: What They Don't Tell You About Diabetes (Paperback)
by Jenny Ruhl (Author) and Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year - An Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed (Patient-expert Guides): The First Year - An Essential Guide for the ... Guides) (First Year - Patient-expert Guides) (Paperback)
by Gretchen Becker
Gretchen Becker (Author)
. They seem highly recommended on Amazon (am I allowed to mention that?), there are so many books on so many subjects out there that are just a waste of money, before paying out for yet another I wonder if anyone has any opinion on this please :?:

The Gretcher Becker book is excellent - I have a copy.

I don't have the Jenny Ruhl book but have heard great things about it.

Thanks for your reply Cliff2, it does have excellent reviews from (I assume) sufferers, just wondered if anyone here had actually read it :D The other book has even better reviews.

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
The diabetees 101 website is very helpful as is David Mendosa's Vast site.
My personal favourite reference book is still Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution. It's a bit slanted to T1, because that is what he himself has, but it's very scientific in approach and thus suits me

I have the jenny ruhl book and it is one of my favourites. Being American it uses different units for blood sugar ISo I have pencilled in the conversions as I went along. I like that it doesn't preach but just says 'read your meter and eat to that'.

Thank you all for your replies, if I decide to buy the books I will return with my own appraisal. :D

Tried your local library?
I've bought several and have yet to find one that I can tune into. Too much of the frightening stuff for a newbie in some cases... ok ok we know what CAN happen but I want practical advice of how to be a good boy...
Oh yes, some are written for a US audience so....
In my limited so far view a perfect book for DM T2s has yet to be written which is odd given how many of us there are now and the list is growing...

Re: Books on Diabetes Diabetes 101 website

I had not thought of the library, excellent idea! Also, should like to say that the Diabetes 101 exists in webform at this address phlaunt.com/diabetes/20585442.php

I hope this is ok with the forum as I have mentioned this on another post, but there is a book that is available for download or by order:

Yes, I'll second that.

Another book I have and would thoroughly recommend is the Diabetes for Dummies guide (UK edition). Don't be put off by the title, it's an easy to read and easy to use quick reference guide.

I have to be honest though and tell you that this forum has been the most useful reference point for me, full stop. Great community spirit on here and some really good, kind hearted people. If you have a query or problem just share it on here and you will get almost immediate responses. :D
