I have bought a couple of books, one is the pocket size Collins Low Carb Counting that was recommended on here.
I enquired about the DR Richard Berstien Diabetes Survivol Book, they would have to order it, It costs £19-99p, I will check at Library, see if they can get it. The other book i did buy, is called "The LOW CARB DIET" by Linda Gassenheimer,

I was wondering if anyone knew of it :)

The Bernstein is expensive, but worth every penny.
I also found the GI diet books helpful and the most interesting is definitely Gary Taubes "The Diet Deception" It's not about diabetes specifically, but it is an eye opener.
It's pretty academic and very dense, so may not suit people who like their reading "light".
On-line, David Mendosa takes some beating.
The collins Little Gem nutrition book is used daily in this house

Jeanie that fact that you have got books means you wish to know more, that will put you on the right road regardless of whether you agree with the author after reading it.

You are on the right road keep going

Thanks guys , will keep plodding on, i will proberly buy the Dr R B book, even, if i can get it, from the library, as i like to own, my own, thanks for the ebay tip, will look there too

I recently got Bernstein's book half-price from Borders bookshop as they were closing down. Someone on here told me that there is an English version, as well as an American version and I didn't realise this. Mine is the American version and it does mean that all references to b.s.levels etc. have to be converted for us Brits to understand but that's onl a minor problem really. It still makes for very interesting reading.

Hi,

I've two of Linda's cookbooks. They are fine. Dr Bernstein's solution is very helpful indeed and goes into the scientific aspects of diabetes in some depth.

There are also useful websites that are free of charge:

http://www.dsolve.com about how to optimise sugar control/diabetes management and
http://www.carb-lite.com which has a multitude of great low carb recipies.
