Hi all,
its been 11 weeks since I was diagnosed type 2. I've followed the advice on here, Bought a meter and carb to meter. HBA1c has dropped from 80 to 50 and my BP has now dropped to the lowest it has been for years . 105/62 over 5 readings today. I could never get the diastolic below 80. I think all this hard work is paying off. I think I will need to review my BP medication in January when I see the nurse for my annual check up.

it's bordering on too low as you would know
This is why I think I need a review of medication. I find it strange that for all the visits to the doctor she never checked my BP or reviewed the medication. I know losing the weight and giving up the alcohol will have helped. Hopefully with a bit more weight loss the BP tablets can go in the bin, Then I will only have Metformin to deal with. Or dare I say it. Bin all the tablets completely. Apart from the blue ones lol.

I would ring and ask if I could halve my BP dose and double the blue ones

Jack your readings over the past twelve months are brilliant. You have some great control going on there. There is a lot to be said for the LCHF lifestyle

For me, the more carbs we eat the more carbs we want. they don’t give up easy

I went under 50g carb a day, ketogenic and cut grain=rice, etc, - grain product= breads, pasta, pastries, cereals – starchy veg=potato, corn, etc –sugary stuff, fruit and juice

Congratulations, sounds like you are doing brilliantly, its surprising how things differ, I can hardly get through the surgery door before they reach for blood pressure machine.

I guess you have a blood pressure monitor at home, I always have to take reading for a few days before any check up as the moment I walk in my blood pressure goes up, at the surgery both reading are about 30 points higher than when taken at home, its only by providing my own results that I stayed off blood pressure tablets.

I keep my meter in work as a colleague has been diagnosed with High BP so it was handy for her to test during the day. Every time she went to the doctors she had white coat syndrome. My BP was hovering around 115/79 mark for a few weeks, It's only this week that its dropped so much.

sounds like me. Diagnosis BP at surgery was 174/80!! At home I'm around 120/68 mark even after 20 minutes on bike. Just the words " I am going to take your BP" send me in to a cold sweat.
