"Brain imaging scans show that when glucose levels drop, an area of the brain known to regulate emotions and impulses loses the ability to dampen desire for high-calorie food, according to the study published online in The Journal of Clinical Investigation."

I'd suggest that anyone who has experienced an hypo knows all too well the overwhelming desire for some fast-acting sugars. Much as we might like to feel superior and "in control" of everything we do... maybe one day we will accept that we are part of the animal kingdom after all; with biochemical drives and instincts.
