Hi all. Just started Ozempic yesterday, March 13.
My morning fast bg# is around 165. And before dinner around 185. A1c is 7.3, down from 8.5.
I never EVER vomit, even when I was rip roaring drunk, (don’t drink anymore). The Day after my first Ozempic shot which is today I got nauseous and threw up, even though I did not have any breakfast or lunch. My question is, I know it’s a side effect from the Ozempic, but is it a weekly thing, is this how it makes you lose weight? Do you get used to the Ozempic and stop throwing up?
Update. My wife made me a hamburger and a plate of beans. I was able to eat a few beans, but then was too nauseous to eat the hamburger. So basically all I’ve had today is 2 cups of coffee and a few beans.
Thank you for your responses,
Fred.

Hi @Nivalk and welcome to the forums.

A1c is 7.3, down from 8.5.

I'm confused, so your hba1c came down before you started the ozempic?

If you do a search for ozempic on the forums I get the impression that a lot of people have nausea to start with, but I very much doubt that that this is meant to be the reason for weight loss. (If nothing else, it wouldn't do your teeth enamel much good if you vomited that much.)

Can I ask how long have you been T2 and what other medication you are on for it? A lot of the T2s on here reduce or eliminate their medications by reducing the carbohydrate that they consume, but you have to be slightly careful how you do this if you are already on glucose lowering meds. I'll include my favourite link to T2 and low carb, in case that interests you.

Anyway, as I'm not T2 or on ozempic, I'll stop here, I just wanted to make sure you didn't have to wait too long for a response as a lot of the regular T2 posters are in the UK and are already in bed.

Finally: I personally wouldn't hesitate to contact my doctor if those symptoms persist.

Thank you very much for your speedy response. I was diagnosed with diabetes about 10 years ago. Up to yesterday I was on 2000 mg of Glucophage and also 100 mg of Januvia. My endocrinologist took away the Januvia and started me on the Ozempic.
My A-1 C has been hovering around seven point something for a long time I just cannot get it down low enough or any lower actually. I am horrible when it comes to discipline regarding my eating habits. I know I’m not supposed to have anything white such as rice, bread, cereal, potatoes etc. and certainly not supposed to have any candy, but I am horrible at following a proper diet.
I am going to try to start tomorrow to have a more disciplined diet. Since my wife does all the cooking and shopping for me, I’m going to have to ask her to adjust our foods accordingly. I’m going to check out the blog you sent me and I’m open to any other suggestions. I thought for sure when I quit drinking my numbers would come down but they have not. Actually they may have come higher because alcoholics love sweets. Shame on me.
