Hi everyone

I am desperately trying to get my diabetes under control and was wandering if anyone had any suggestions for the following...

I had toast for tea - total CHO was 34. I used a standard bolus and my BG took about 5 hours to return to normal. Starting BG was 8.4, went up to 15.5 and then back down to 8.0.
I then tried an extended bolus over 5 hours the following night and had the same pattern with a high BG in the middle and then back to normal in about 5 hours. I know that the BG is expected to increase after food but I was hoping to be able to bolus more effectively so that I don't go so high into the 15-16 mark.

So has anyone experianced the same problem with bread and how do you bolus for it e.g. extended, multiwave??

nb - I have done fasting tests and know that my insulin dose ratios/calculations are correct.

Thanks

We do a standard bolus for bread without problem. What type of bread are you eating and are you sure you calculated the carbs correctly for the amount you had?

we also have no problem with bread our prob foods are the pizza and pasta but if we use multiwave for those its alot better, hope u get it sorted

After doing some research, I found that other diabetics have problems with bread. So I have eliminated bread from my diet and my BG results have drastically improved even though it has been a couple of days. I don't have the same problem with naan breads so it must be an ingredient in the bread.
