Bread making machine advice please

I have size 11 feet ..... they would know they are small :)
You develop an instinct as to where they are @Enclave. But have no fear they are usually on my lap!..They are described as lap dogs :)

I often fall over my two ... I am a man .. we don't have instincts :banghead:
The misses .. yes she said I could call her the misses if I was going against her wishes to call her the wife ... anyway .. as my sugar levels were good with the bread, she made a pizza tonight with the bread maker doing the dough .. it was lovely and I had coleslaw with mine .. (she could not have coleslaw as the mayo we have is full of rapeseed oil !!! and she did not want to make her own) .. but it was a very big pizza and my blood sugar only rose a little to 6.0 at the 2 hour point after eating ...

Wonderful news @Enclave! :).... Did you do low carb bread?

No .. I am on full carb bread (wholemeal ) .. to be honest ... nothing I eat seems to affect my BS now .. I am close to the misses reading every meal now .. still must say our taste in food has changed .. I used to like pasta .. cannot abide the stuff now .. the last shop bought pizza we had was with a thick base and again it was horrid .. the misses made a thin base and it was lovely
Had a peasant (pulse) soup with a few slices of the bread, as the atora vegetable suet was mouldy (it was freshly opened an full of mould) so no dumpling ....

Non Vegetarian.... you mean the mould, I think you will find it is vegetable! :)

some mould on food is toxic .. this looked a dirty black/green mould .. not chancing it LOL

Useful to know thanks, we've had a breadmaking machine for ages and used to use it at least once a week, but not since I was diagnosed. I'll go have a search for that recipe too.

Just found it....

"I've been experimenting with low carb bread recipes and think I've finally created something that actually tastes like bread and is low carb! My old recipes that I've posted on here contained almond flour, but I think this gave them a funny taste. I've substituted this for soy flour, which has more carbs, but tastes fine.

I use cups as it's quicker than weighing out the ingredients. If you've got a measuring jug then a cup is 235 ml. I used the "wholewheat" setting on my breadmaker.

1.5 cups wheat gluten (36g carbs)
1.5 cups soy flour (19g carbs)
1 cup ground linseed (2 g carbs)
0.5 cups wheat bran (8g carbs)
0.5 cups mixed seeds (sunflower, pumpkin etc.) (8g carbs)
1.5 cups water
7g sachet fast action yeast
salt, to taste (0.5-1 tsp I'd guess)
1 tsp sugar (gets used up by the yeast)
glug of olive oil

By my estimation, that gives 73g in the whole loaf. My breadmaker's pan is 20cm long, so a 1cm slice has 3.7g carbs in it. You could omit the mixed seeds to make it even lower carb. All of that wheat gluten is needed to give it the texture, I've posted recipes before with less wheat gluten in it, but 1.5 cups is the magic number to give it a proper bread-like texture.

I've you've got a breadmaker and miss bread since L Cing, then please try it as it tastes just like normal bread similar to Burgen's soy and linseed bread (except Burgen's has flour in it). I now have sandwiches for my lunch again!!!! "

Have fun!

Yuk....never said that it was edible though!! :)

@Deespee23 I will try to get the misses to cook the bread for me .. she has a problem with soy .. not quite as bad as RS oil .. but not far short of causing big problems ..

@ellagy Atora are sending me a voucher .. pleased with this as I don't have a till receipt

Must say the Misses health has been greatly improved since being free of oilseed rape .. wonder how may others are suffering and not making the connection !!! It can cause breathing problems and thyroid problems .. the misses has been taking kelp tablets like they were going out of fashion .. to help with her with some of the symptoms .. and no longer needs them .. also her breathing is a 100% better than it was a week ago .. as is mine !!!! This dreadful oil is in almost everything that used to have olive oil or sunflower oil in .. We noticed her problem was this oil when tesco changed the oil on their peanuts .. the wife was in a bad way after eating them to the point of not being able to breath at all .. then the antihistamine kicked in.

Hi Ellagy - see the comment at top of recipe re. almond flour - it might work with that instead of soy....

cheers will let the misses know Dee, but as the normal bread is not causing me any problems I am not sure she will go for it .. almond flour is an arm and a leg round here .. and we are on a limited budget ..
