Breakfast anyone?


I do wonder about the role of high fructose corn syrup in the American T2 epidemic. Though Australia is also pretty bad and as far as I know they use sugar rather than corn syrup?
 
I'll openly admit to enjoying the occasional muffin for breakfast - particularly chocolate ones, but they are nice healthy (eggs, butter, ground almonds, etc) homemade low carb ones...

I used (pre diabetes days) to stay in a hotel that provided the most wonderful English breakfast buffet you could ever hope to imagine - let alone eat! They did include all the carby breakfast offerings as well though for those so inclined - so you could work your way through and scoff the lot...

I have just stayed for two nights in a London hotel. Although it did have all the usual high carb stuff it had a huge assortment of cheeses, cold meats, smoked fish and of course - bacon, eggs and Portobello mushrooms - which I had both mornings. They did back bacon and a very very crispy streaky bacon that I absolutely love plus a little bit of natural yoghurt. Probably had a bit too much of the very crispy streaky bacon because it was so moreish.
 
Although this is nothing to do with breakfasts. When I arrived at my hotel there was a box of handmade biscuits waiting for me. Also there was a stash of biscuits with the coffee making facilities. These went straight in my case to take home to husband. Thet were replenished by the time I got back to my room in the evening. These also went into my case.

Everytime I had a cup of coffee a handmade biscuit was served with it. And when I returned to my room there was a luxury biscuit on my pillow - presumably to eat before I went to bed.

Husband was very pleased with all the biscuits - thank goodness that I no longer think of carbs as a treat. When I look at carbs now the thought that goes through my head is which would I prefer - eat the carbs or keep my feet and my eyesight. Feet and eyesight always win.
 
Agreed. Carbohydrate is public enemy number one for me. Not in the least bit tempted by any “treats”. I have my treats every day in the form of all the delicious food I can eat to satiety without hovering my hand over a glucose meter in a holster. I use this term a lot, but “I’m done negotiating with carbohydrate”. Why would I be tempted to have my feet cut off?

This is just my view, by the way. I don’t judge other people’s choices, I only speak for myself
 
Looks awesome and delicious, but can a diabetic patient really has such kind of Breakfast?

Yes but depends, if your a Low Carb diet person then probably not and I think would certainly blow most of the carbs out the water.

However if you don't give a flying monkey and take insulin, carb count and adjust accordingly then yes.

Really just depends on you and how you deal with diabetes ~shrug~
