So, my pre breakfast was 9.2 and post breakfast was 11.6

I had 2 eggs, 2 mushrooms, 15 cheese spread all scrambled together and a cup of tea with 1 sweetener.

Is this rise of 2.4 'normal'?
I know the 9.2 is high but this is day 1 off official BG testing so Im looking at it as a starting point

i think normal insulin function wouldn't result in a rise like that with the items you have listed.........

keep testing and build a picture.......

are you on any medication yet.........?

I'm diet only at the moment - hoping to keep it that way if I can
btw that should have read 15g of cheese spread!

Lets see what lunch does to me....

Keep at it.
A 2.4 rise isn't bad, it takes time to get the numbers where you want them.

How long after the meal did you test ? A rise of 2.4 is acceptable given the error factors in the meters. Both are still a little high but as you rightly say, still early days and you will improve.

It was proably just under 2 hours - I have patience issues!
Would worrying about it make a difference? I did feel a bit of the knotted tummy thing going on

Worrying won't help but you are heading in the right direction. Be patient, reduce carbs, exercise if you can and you WILL see the benefits.

well, my pre lunch reading was..... 8.2

then my colleague brought me a cupcake. what an evil man. (he doesnt know Im diabetic to be fair, lol)

Well done Mrs. M., on both counts - a good post meal reading and for refusing the cupcake! I think I would be tempted to tell this evil man that your body has a problem coping with sugar.;)

Interesting. A breakfast like that would not raise my BG at all. I'm not sure there is a such thing as 'normal'. You just need to keep monitoring and look for patterns. :pompous:

it can also be the dawn rise, depending on how long after waking you ate. form what I understand.
