Hi,

I am a French citizen and I would like to know about how the British health system works. I have diabetes type 1 and am considering settling in the UK but before I would like to know how you can reimbursed for your insulin, your insulin pump, the material for insulin pump, tablets, the material for doing glyceamias, needles... In the French health system, I am covered at 100% and don't have anything to pay. Is it the same in the UK? Thank you very much for your help. Kindest regards, Catherine

Hi @CatherineBrun :)

In the UK we have the NHS so we don't pay for healthcare. Here people with Type 1 (and some others) get free prescriptions - free I sulun, free test strips, etc.

I'm not sure how that would work with a pump as not everyone here qualifies to have a pump. Those who do have their pump and pump supplies paid for by the local authority.

Do you know what part of the UK you would settle in?

Hi,

I don't know yet, It would depend where I will find a job but I would be very happy if I found a job in the South of England.
