Broken blood vessels in hands............... sore as.

Not too sure if this is diabetes related, so tucking this away in general chat.

This last week if I grip an item a little off centre, pop, something somewhere will break and it's sore and then pretty discoloured..

Any thoughts as to why it happens and what I can do to mitigate it.

Reluctant to be making a diagnosis, @hankjam.. but my mother, who did not have diabetes, had similar symptoms. She was turned 70 years old at the time.
She was found to have Achenbach syndrome. It is benign, and it cleared up when she accepted she needed to apply less pressure when opening jars and such movements.

As I have arthritic hands I use readily available implements to assist in turning handles opening jars, etc. the lever action causes the discomfort, so the tap turners, key extenders etc, shift the load away from fingers.

I have no idea what causes a lot of stuff that happens to the body the older I get, so can't really help.

This saves me a bit of angst when opening jars, probably what @Pipp is using as well.

No Pipp gets Mr Pipp to do the difficult stuff.
If he is not around I use a silicone sheet to put on top of jar, which helps grip without slipping.

Thank you @Pipp I've wondered about AS, done some reading on it. Going to have to be a bit more careful with the fingers and not to rush....
