Hello

I am not replacing medical advice with this forum so please refrain from saying this, I just want to discuss experiences or knowledge from other patients or even good ideas.

My physical activity levels have dropped dramatically the last years due to obesity and inactivity, as I barely did few steps per day. In January, I had pneumonia after running and breathing heavily cold air. Up to March, most of it had resolved but I still had issues and I read that it takes 6 months to fully resolve.

I was unfortunate enough to catch a cold last week. Two days later, it turned into bronchitis which still bothers me after 1.5 weeks. I read that it takes up to 3 weeks to resolve.

As I never had in the past bronchitis or pneumonia, I am worried that from now on, any cold may turn into bronchitis.

Do you have any experience like that?

I plan to do lung physio and start losing weight and exercising regularly, do you think this could prevent me from getting bronchitis again?

I read online that for some people 'every cold gets into their chest' and that one patient had a bronchitis during pregrancy and after that, each time she got a cold, it went to her chest.

Any input?

Are you on antibiotics? Or steroids?

Do you smoke?

When ever I get a cold 99 times out of a hundred it will end up with bronchitis, but I have always been like that so not caused by my diabetes. If this is new to you since diagnosis then it may be advisable to discuss it with your doctor.

Diabetes does make us more vulnerable to infections or so I have been told.

What are your blood sugar levels? High levels make infection more likely, then infection can raise blood sugars, I wonder if you’ve got into an unfortunate cycle?

It's 6.2 fasting glucose. But I am not asking about its relation to diabetes, but generallly.

Since you have experience with chest colds, how long does it take to cure?
I still feel light headache and fatigue after 10 days.
I read online it takes up to 3 weeks, but I am not sure if they mean it about fatigue or only for cough (which surprisingly I don't have much)
