Hi there, i dont have diabetes but my partner is an insulin dependant diabetic. He took my blood sugar levels and it was 2.4!! Should i be worried??? He said this was too low but wouldnt that just be too low for him??!
Any advice would be great :) I have no idea!

Really depends on when you last ate and what it was. There are many reasons for levels being this low, not all Diabetes related. If you want to frighten yourself take a look here. It may just be you need to eat something though ? It is not a dangerously low level for a non-Diabetic.

As you say you are not a Diabetic, here is a little information about Bg levels in non -Diabetic people.:

Hypoglycaemia or low blood glucose an a non- Diabetic person is a condition in which the level of glucose (sugar) in the blood, drops below a certain point (about 2.5mmol/l). The condition manifests itself by a number of symptoms that usually disappear 10 to 15 minutes after eating sugary foods or having sugary drinks.

People differ slightly in the exact level of blood glucose at which they begin to feel symptoms of low blood sugar. If this continues, you should discuss it with your GP.

do you feel light headed or giddy in the morning?as my wife does due to low bg and low blood pressure and your reading seems dangerously low

2.4 in a non-diabetic and when it hasn't been caused by medication is low, but probably not dangerous, unless you are driving at the time  . A small amount of food will bring it back up quickly.

Thanx guys, it was actually straight after eating something. I do feel spaced out and get headaches alot. I just feel very odd at times!! I will make an appointment with the gp. Although they werent very helpful before!

Hi, I am diabetic, and when I had my children, they were born with low blood sugar (despite my hardest efforts!!) the magic number for them not to be considered "low" was 2.6.
I realise that newborns are diffierent from adults, and teh fact that you feel light headed is worth a trip to the drs, but if you had Just eaten...it could be that the food hadn't started to be digested yet?
