When I was first diagnosed last September, I logged onto this site and had a reply from someone who said with the levels I gave I shouldn't have any problems getting levels into the 5s. I have cut out most of the carbs although I hadn't realised that I shouldn't really be eating fruit. I only had 2 portions or less a day but ate a banana if time was tight and didn't have time to eat anything else. I know look at bananas as if they have landed from another planet and shouldn't be touched. I get about 60% readings in the 5s before I eat my evening meal and often 2 hours after can still be in the 5s, the other 40% are in the 6s. Some levels, when I really feel I haven't eaten more than a small amount of carbs just shoot up and are higher 2 hours after eating. My other problem is my early morning teat. It can very between 6.1 and 7.3, yesterday it was 7.9. I seldom if ever have a reading of more than 7.9 whatever the time of day. I know of the dawn phenomena, have tried eating some protein before bed but..... Any advice please. I must admit that so many of you are so familiar with all the scientific stuff but it basically leaves me cold as I just do not understand it. Maybe I will understand some in the future but meanwhile. Hope someone understood what I am asking in my garbled way. Grief that was muddled. Basically what I am tring to say is that my diet has radically changed, I get loads more exercise, am loosing weight but am not happy with my levels
