We have a 4 year old daughter with type 1 diabetes, and would like an aletrnative to the 5-6 blood tests per day, which she does not like. As a guide is it feasable to use a gluco watch type instrument to keep an eye on her levels throughout the day with 1-2 blood tests for accuray .If this is a proven method which item is best? how can we get one? Thank you Ramin

there's probably nothing suitable. I don't think you can get the glucowatch any more and the sensor pads an cause trouble

Investigate alternative site testing. I use the inside of my forearm and if I press the "nose" of my stabber down firmly, I don't feel the stab, then look at various stabbers, some are gentler than others

There is a product very similar to the old Glucowatch.

The newer product is made in the UK but is only designed to warn of impending Hypo's not record Bg numbers.

If you want to use AST then you should contact your GP/DSN and discuss. It is not recommended to just start using this method without taking advice. The readings are not as accurate and are delayed compared to the 'finger prick' site testing. Depends how stable the little girl's Bg levels are ?
