BS reading before brek.....................6.1. Tried 2 brown seeded slices of bread toasted with a scrape of diabetic marmalade
BS reading 2 1/2 hrs later.................8.5. Guess that's the brown bread going out to the robins. Funny how if I have white bread toasted with marmalade my readings only go up by 1 point.View attachment 9670 Hmmmm, zis is wery interesting.
Try your toast with fat, not marmalade. Lots of butter, 2 poached or fried eggs and a bit of cheese, or a lot of cheese. Or one slice of toast. Beware diabetic foods - they contain laxitives and are expensive. Even my DN warned me off them, and even the NHS booklets on diabetic diets warn us off them.
White bread is fast release, so at 2.5hrs you will be missing your spike. Most likely between an hour and 2 hours.
Ut oh.... my Christmas lunch was postponed until tomorrowso we went down to the local pub/deli for food as obviously I didn't have anything with me. I had a cup of vegetable soup and a slice of their crustless bacon and cheese quiche.

I'm like OMG... my colleagues are all laughing at me in a nice way because of my shocked reaction ... I'm now off to walk up and down the stairs a few times to try and bring it down a bit quicker...
Ha Ha.. I wouldn't mind, but I could have had something really naughty like a bowl of chips or a bag of M&M's and had less of a rise... Worst still I will have to do penance otherwise it will play on my mind.. So I guess I'll be doing a walk in the rain when I get home tonight before my dinnerYour supposed to have the piece they cut out View attachment 9684 ............................Oh you did![]()
It just goes to show that we are all still learning something new every day. Last time I ate out, it was when I went shopping with my sister who is also a T2 diabetic. We shared some KFC....(just chicken and no sides) and a diet coke each and it was fab and filling.. and just a tiny rise which was a surprise as I was worried about the coating.Oh dear. Must have been potatoes and flour in the soup, plus carrots and peas? Same happened to me with my egg mayo salad yesterday. It isn't always easy to eat out, and even when you think you choose wisely, it isn't necessarily the case.

I suggest you copy and paste that photo, print it out, laminate it and take it with you when you go for that walk in the rain. I think it's a flogging that you really need and I have just the thing.Ha Ha..
