BS readings

Unusual day food-wise for me. My lunchtime meeting overran so I didn't get to eat until 3.30 when I met a friend in Winchester and she chose for me a wafer-thin wrap filled with roquefort, salad and pulled pork, and a peppermint tea, believing she had made a healthy choice for me.

After an hours drive home I was a whooping 9.6 at 6pm but have now dropped to 5.7

Tomorrow's fasting bs will be interesting..

God you are back to normal Diana. The drive home won't have helped either.

9.6 is a whopper :) ..I used to live in Twyford and Compton, Winchester being my old shopping town. I loved it, except for the traffic :)

Glad you got your BG back down ok

Thank you. Yes, I love Winchester for shopping and for Caracoli, which was to blame today. Traffic is definitely a problem. Its quicker to walk!

The gravy probably. What is a portion? I have a wineglass ful (200ml) and it is 8 carbs, quick release. Also some people have to be careful with onions, which are quite carby.

Hi Bluetit, you certainly are busy. Evidently, 2 carbs per 50ml portion, I had between 50 & 100ml so probably a combination of Onions & Gravy, I'll check it the next time.

Bisto best gravy was 60g of carb for 10 tbl spoons.....(also apparently)...more than my daily goal in one item. I won't be having that again any time soon :-)

That is 10 tablespoons of the dry granules presumably, not 10tbsp of the finished gravy? On my packet of Best Bisto it says the carbs for a dry measure and for a finished measure. I know it is 8 carbs for 200ml of gravy.

I got the info from myfitnesspal, doh stupidity reigns high today...I'll adjust it tomorrow.

Thanks

Hi Bookmite, I had just read the packet, one of many, it says. Per 100g that it is 60.6g carbs, but you don't use a 100 grams.

To make 1/2 a pint of gravy it's just 4 level teaspoons, don't know how many grams that is? probably 10 to 20g I would imagine.

I had about 1/4 of a pint which is a little more that a portion 30ml which is 2 carbs. (according to the pkt).

I think its OK but I will keep testing........

Never rely on any MFP entries! They are all member submitted, by people from all over the world that are more interested in calories than carbs. Very few are 100% accurate. I always read my food labels and then enter my own calculations on MFP as X number of carbs/cals etc per 100g. It is a nuisance at first, but as we all normally eat much the same things regularly, after a week or two all your foods will be on and you can then just adjust the portions accordingly in your food diary.

Now wonder we are bored talking about gravy, we don't get the posh stuff, were still on the powder, it definitely says 50ml servings 2 carbs.

So 5.6 breakfast
5 pre lunch
4.7 post lunch
4.8 random test
4.5 pre dinner
Out and had 6 Chios with steak salad. Panicked at 11/2 hrs when it said 8.5 but then remembered I'd been handling chips and not washed hands. Retested 7.3 which I'll take.
Bedtime 5.2

funny sort of day readings wise which I put down in part to my 2hr tests falling immediately after 2 20 minute stints on the numb bum peddle machine
anyway
fasting was 5.9
post breakfast /pre-lunch 5.6
post lunch 5.6
pre dinner 4.6
will update with post dinner. I may go and peddle again now as I've got the exercise bug today( either that or the possibility of fitting into some non fat calf person's suede boots is spurring me on- though the cycling appears to be giving me calves like a prop forward!)

post dinner edit. 5.1 after 2 hrs and another 20 minutes peddling.
