BS readings

6.8 fasting
6.4 pre breakfast
5.6 post and pre lunch
6.2 post lunch
6.2 @3hrs - not sure why so high.. Did have a lot of protein at breakfast so maybe that or my cold.
5.2 @4hrs
4.8 pre dinner
6.6 post - again quite protein heavy - am thinking I'm going to have to reduce this if I stay off Metformin as I'd rather see 5 something at night.
6.3 @3hrs

A bit of a high day for me. Hoping it's just the residual effects of my cold.

Too bad to come back and post ;-)

Yes. Lol.

Awful. I was still high at 2 hours, 7.7. I didn't test again till tea time and was back to 5.3 by that time, so all was well that ended well, but I was in the 7's and 8's for over 2 hours and don't like that at all.

Better tonight

5.3 before tea
5.5 at 1 hour
5.6 at 2 hours.

That has made up for it.

It may be above your expectations but they are still tight control readings. You are too hard on yourself. Your cold will be playing a part too.

I think we all have those sort of blips. You'll remember the bacon and sausages next time ;-)

Thanks I am telling myself that I have to be more relaxed about it all as stress will push them up. The Metformin was bound to be having some effect but the problems I've been having with them outweigh the slightly lower results. I still have weight to shift ( about 11/2 st to get back to my twenties' weight) so hoping that will help as well. It's a juggling act as we all find at some time or other.

I'm sure you have done the right thing stopping your Metformin. You have done so well, and when that last bit of weight comes off you will do even better. It's only today you haven't been happy. I think it's your cold. Forget it and move on. You've done a lot better than I have and I haven't got a cold!

I have to shift it as I've bought a frock for my friend's wedding in April in a silly size!! Can't afford anything else so it's diet or don't go.

Prebreakfast 6.8

@ 2 hours 6.0.

Worried that my prebreakfast readings are always mid to late 6's. Will they reduce?

I'll be good the rest of the night mm worth it .
Next time I'm going to try the hairy bikers lasagne , no pasta flattened strips of leeks to make the layers just to see the difference in bs
Just an idea- i made bolognese with courgettes sliced into thin strips as the "spaghetti" just par boiled two mins and loved it! I topped it with grated fresh parmasen - fab!

They're not bad Lynn at ALL. In fact they're pretty good

What was you waking reading?

That is the one reading I'm really bad at taking. What with painful knees and my Polymyalgia, the last thing I feel like doing when I wake up is stabbing my finger. Suspect the 6's reading is liver dump. What do you think?

Lynn, do you test at bedtime? This is often a good indicator of whether you get a liver dump over night.

I normally just test after dinner unless it is a reading I'm unhappy with and then I test before bedtime. Those readings are usually high 5's/low 6's.

I would add that because of my painful knees I am an extremely restless sleeper. Hear myself crying out when I turnover sometimes.

Oh poor you. That must be awful for you. The pain and restless sleep is probably causing it. Your liver is trying to help you cope with it by giving it some extra energy. I don't generally experience liver dumps over night - rarely much difference between bedtime and morning readings, but I sleep well and deeply so am not using a great deal of energy. On the very rare occasion I have a bad night (bad for me that is), I do get a bit of a dump.

fasting 6.5
pre breakfast 6.7
post 5.7
pre lunch 4.8
post take your pick- my fingers are sore 6 5.1 5.5 5.8 6.1- I averaged the highest and lowest and got 5.6- this batch ending in 26 is driving me nuts- no consistency at all.
pre dinner 5.3 after some peddling to lower it a bit. Guess I'm going to have to up the exercise in substitution for the Metformin.
