Building muscle on a low carb diet

What do you guys think about this? Is it possible? I read that carbs are needed to trigger insulin which is very important in muscle building. Seems like high protein and fat alone are not enough? My BS levels are in check now but I don't want to up carbs and risk going up again. In the US you need a doc prescription to get on insulin injections. Wonder if this is a good enough reason lol

Take a look at Dr Dominic D'Agostino. He's been on a keto diet for nearly 10 years. Does it look like he has problems with building/maintaining muscle mass?

This talk is about keto and muscle building:

A lot of these keto body builders, including Jason Wittrock, do "carb refeeds", though:

Hmm that's a bit disappointing.. I only found him while he was doing his 21 day overfeeding challenge.. very few carbs involved there and he lost weight on 4000+ calories a day mostly from fat.. I understand what he's saying but that's not how I want to do it myself.

I doubt it's necessary to do carb refeeds, but I could be wrong.

I am not fully ripped, but I am currently at 12.8% body fat. By using a body composition monitor, I knew my starting weight and fat numbers. I can see that my weight has gone up (muscle weighs more than fat) whilst my fat has gone down.

I am doing this for 2 reasons, the first is to test the after burn to see what impact this has on my sugars (so far I have lower fasting figures, but near as **** it the same HbA1c)

The second reason is I find hitting exhaustion quicker and easier with weights, so more time for living (although HiiT, based static cycling I find a killer). There is 1 additional reason, which is pure vanity, I am trying to reveal a full 6 pack before my 50th in October, if I can stop over eating I have a chance.
