Bunged up !

I am taking Gliclazide and Metformin and wondering if any one else has problems with constipation on these drugs. I am usually regular as clock work but now finding it difficult to go and can only manage it every two days or so with a lot of effort.

Would any one recommend prunes or "Fybogel" to help things along or would this send my BG levels up.

awful subject but due to other illnesses i suffer from constipation, i use sugar free fibogel or movicol and it doesnt affect my bloods

Are you drinking enough water? Also physilium husk in yogurt or however you want to take it helps.

Have you changed your diet recently? If you keep a food diary have a look at the fibre content. You probably aren't eating enough, and this can be a problem when you reduce your starchy carbs.

Increase fat and water and see if that help. Sometimes fibre itself can make things worse if you're not hydrated enough.

Are you drinking diet coke? This makes me constipated.

I've suffered badly with constipation tried fibogel which worked for about a year then it progressively become worse now on senna tablets 2 at night and 15ml of Lactulose solution morn and eve works well at moment but does give me Gale Force winds !!

Thanks for your help everyone, I will increase my water intake to start with and if there's no improvement will try some Fybogel.
