Thanks @RTI

I've been on Dafne course 2016. My team are attached to hospital. Will take a look at links you have sent.

Thanks for information.
The same as me, but in 2021. Why are you not contacting the Dafne course team in your hospital for more help ? (by phone, email).

I have seen that a direct contact with experienced nurses, doctors, teams can help so much more to understand and find a possible solution much easier.

But they can only help you, when you are asking them.

@RTI

It was a different hospital before I moved so it's out of area now. Will try local team next week. Thanks

I'm really sorry to hear that you have been through so much and are also dealing with lows. I reduced from 17 units Tresiba down to 12 which left me with day time highs. Now on 14 . If I adjusted my Novorapid by 2 it throws me into a low. I start with 6 units and put corrections in of 2 to 3. I feel its an overlap and metabolism. Wondering if anyone adjusts their timings and delay the dose each day by couple of hours. Good luck with your appointment next week.
Hi! I've been moving my slow acting insulin up and down, trying different times. You will get there! I've recently managed to stabalise things a little and actually went FIVE nights without a hypo!
- I inject 2 to 4 units of fast insulin at breakfast time and if I'm running high I give it time to kick in. I usually have milky coffee, a slice of brown bread, protein, and raw veg.
- I inject my slow insulin about an hour before lunch. 20 units of Levemir. I have a low carb lunch
- I've stopped having fast acting insulin at night unless I'm having a special meal. I usually have a salad or some scrambled eggs with a small slice of toast. I might top up with a digestive biscuit if I'm a bit low. I don't think that you need to worry about you sugar level being a bit high when you're going to bed - as long as you haven't overdone the carbs!
I'm currently keeping my fingers crossed.
Good luck to you x

Hi

Thanks for your encouragement and for sharing what works for you. Always helpful to compare food groups and well done for five nights without a hypo. Major achievement.

I've tried eating breakfast at 3am but not a lover of cold oats even though they are left in a hot food thermos flask.

Unfortunately unable to eat eggs I used to love them but nowadays just get really unwell.

I have returned to eating Bananas which seem to help keep my daytime levels at a better balance for some reason. Like you I inject and wait for fast acting to kick in which for me is normally around 20 minutes after food with a duration of 4 hours.

For me every meal is like a scientific experiment with different outcomes.

It's 4am just had slice of wholemeal bread dealing with another night time drop level at 3 hoping I can get back to sleep soon.

Thank you and good luck to you too. X
