burning feet?

I have problems with various symptoms in my feet including the burning sensations you describe. I saw a neurologist who did some electrical tests and confirmed I have a peripheral neuropathy. Given that I also have some kidney necropathy too in the early stages my specialist thinks I must have been an undiagnosed diabetic for 5-10 years before diagnosis. I never used to bother with docs etc thinking oh well I am young and healthy just ignore it and it will go away. Problem is this has obviously caused damage in the meantime, I dont know your history but maybe you have a similar thing, Although you cant rule out stuff like a bad reaction to your medication might be worth discussing trying something else just to rule it out. I know the nurse I spoke to at my employer's occupational health provider told me that metformin can sometimes cause a lot of aches in muscles and feet etc and sometimes people are misdiagnosed with more serious conditions as this is not checked at an early stage.

FordPrefect: I noted from one of your posts in this thread that you saw a Neurologist. I assume this was from a referal from your GP, how the hell did you acheive that? I have classic nueropathy symptoms, my BG control could be better but I blame that on trying to get used to xenatide! My GP suggests I need to control the BG better before we investigate the probable nueropathy - what about the pain control? Sorry to whinge but some days I have real trouble walking and I get the impression I should turn up at my GPs in a wheelchair and perhaps he will pay attention. I'm on Quinine which doesn't seem to touch the pain. Perhaps anyone else knows of a pain control solution I could try?

Self absorbed and rude people! Motorists who are oblivious to the rest of the world, and really don't give a ****!
I used to suffer from burning feet on a frequent basis, always worse in bed. Since my diabetes diagnosis and sugar control by diet they are much improved. I guess it was the diabetes causing the problem :?
