I am a type 2 diabetic and have been experiencing crippling burning sensations in both my feet for over a month

This occurs particularly at night . I feel as if i am walking on hot coals

Please can anyone tell me what this could be and how can i manage this?

Oh my!!I take it from the +++ that you are possibly not testing with a meter but with urine test sticks. An Hba1c of 16 is very high and yes,you may well be developing complications .Please have a good read round the forum and we can try and help you get your blood sugars down to a level which will help you stave off these complications.
You really need to be testing with a proper blood sugar meter and test strips. Will your doctor give you these?

My doctor refuse to give me the sugar meter , hence why i use test strips -what can i do in the meantime b/c im frightened to go to bed at night , it is really scarey

One thing is certain In the immortal words of Corporal Jones"don't Panic!"
We'll help as much as we can, but we can only ADVISE, you're the one who must DO
Although urine sticks aren't all that helpful, you should be getting a negative result from them. If you need blood strips and the cost is high, Go back to your doctor and tell him that since you are not doing too well this way, You NEED blood test gear. If he still won't give it to you, appeal to your PCT.
A meter is the most accurate way of getting a reading, but there is a product called Glucoflex -R, which works without a meter and thus is cheaper. You Really MUST get that Blood glucose down, because you may be developing complications.
What do you eat? and is this diet on medical advice?

As stated i only have urine sticks as the doctor has refused to give me the meter. My question is , is their anything i can take to reduce the burning sensation at the moment (tonight) as im scared it may get worst

i eat vegetables, pasties

Is there any chance of changing your doctor to a more diabetic friendly one? You really need to discuss these symptoms with a doctor. They may be related to high blood sugars but...there is always the possibility that they are not and ,as your doctor has all your medical info he is the best person to ask.
You really need to test your blood one way or the other. It is the only way that you are going to find out out which foods are sending your blood sugars high all the time.If you cannot get or afford a meter then Glucoflex R strips as Hana mentioned are available for £9.99 for 50 .

Glucoflex-R is now actively dispensed in ALL boots pharmacies nationwide so if anyone asks where to get this product then Boots is the place- it is not currently sold on the shop floor but needs to be requested by the pharmacist in the dispensary who if has no stock sitting on the shelf requests a same day delivery from their local depot of which all have stock now.

I was on metformin 2000mg + 360mg of glisticist

The doctor had changed the metformin to 4mg of avonda - i have been on this for 4/2 months , should this had been increased already?

If you buy anything you use to manage your diabetes (or any other disability or long term condition) then ask to have the VAT removed. You will have to ask and will need to fillin a form, the bigger pharmacies are mor elikely to have the forms to hand.

Also, you don't necessarily need to buy a meter. I have 2 and both were freebies.

My Accu-chek Aviva was sent to me with a whole box of goodies by first class post by Roche, the manufacturer, when i rang customer services. My contour meter was from the "competition" at the top of this page - it isn't a real competition - but if you do that it won't be with you tomorrow.

The meters that come out of the cupboard at the clinic/surgery are usually freebies from the drug companies - they make all the money on the tests strips (which are quite eyewateringly expensive) and the lancets.

You can buy test strips a bit cheaper on eBay - check a sellers feedback before you bid and part with any cash and make sure that the strips have at least 6 months of shelf life. I have bought a lot of strips on eBay and have never paid more than half the price I would pay at the chemist, and that includes postage.

Good luck

hi lifeisnoteasy,
about the problem in your feet: I have (had) something very similar which I believe is a form of diabetic neuropathy. If it's like mine then it's damage to your nerves caused by having had high blood sugar levels for too long. (In fact going to the doctor about these sensations was what led me to discover I was T2 diabetic in the first place.)

As to what to do about them:
the most important thing is to get your blood sugar levels down to a good level - many posts here explain what those good levels are. I do it by greatly reducing carb content, plus I'm on a low dose of Metformin, twice 500 per day.
About the actual pain etc: more difficult, as I found normal over-the-counter pain killers did next to nothing. The best help I found comes from advice of Dr Bernstein, which is a cocktail of vitamin supplements: most importantly, Alpha Lipoic Acid, 200mg three times a day (every eight hours), taken with Evening Primrose Oil (GLA), 300mg, and Vitamin C, 300mg. It's not cheap - Alpha Lipoic Acid in particular is expensive. But I swear this cocktail helps me - I still have some trouble but much less than before. I buy Solgar, which are the most expensive  but I tried a cheaper kind and they just didn't seem as good.
The good blood sugar control is crucial, as you probably know, so you need to do both these things at once. It *will* get better, although maybe not quickly, if your case is anything like mine.
