That was when I realised, its not just a number on a meter.... it's my life.
Hello,
That's the key realisation and one which some people never grasp. We are not being tested this is our reality. If we fail we fail ourselves and we have to try not to make an enemy of our future.
Don't expect perfection with diabetes or with anything as you will be disappointed. Try for small improvements; at first try to stay the same or improve and once you are on your way try solely for improvements.
The key tools for me in controlling my diabetes are low-carbing and exercise. Everything else is detail. Those things will work if you do them. There's lots on here about low-carbing; read up on it and try your best to give it really serious go.
At my last visit to my eye clinic the consultant logged 'no retinopathy' which is a good result because for the last 10 years I've had mild background non-proliferative retinopathy. The reason for that change is low-carb eating and exercise.
Test often, look for patterns and make things as simple as possible.
You can do this and you can have a great life with diabetes as a minor inconvenience if you take control.
Best
