I was happy when told I was going on this injection. Had issues with other medication, especially the weight gain caused. One of the unexpected side effects of the injection, they discovered was in most cases it helped with weight loss. In fact I was told by nurse that in extreme cases it was prescribed to non diabetic patients for this purpose.
Well I self injected once a week for a month but the side effects I had were not pleasant. Constipation, extreme back pain, hot and cold sweats. When I contacted the nurse she said to stop immediately and just remain on Pioglitazone for a month then come and see her.
Just when I thought there was light at the end of the tunnel, will have to go back to the drawing board.

Hi. Can you tell us more about your weight/BMI and diet. Bydureon is usually prescribed when there is a lot of weight to be lost together with blood sugar control; it does have side effects as you have found. When you see the nurse do discuss the pioglitazone. It can be very good at controlling blood sugar but is not really recommended these days due to some side effects including water retention. A low carb diet with some overall control of calories will help with weight loss. Perhaps your other meds are causing the weight gain and this makes like very difficult. Is it worth discussing each of these meds with the nurse or the pharmacy to see if anything can be changed.
