I'd be grateful for input. I was a lantus/Pioglitazone/Glimepiride user - aged 60 (diagnosed at 45) heavy (14st 4lb) low bloods (6 - 7 in the morning) but not enjoying mid-afternoon or post meeting lows (3.3).

Changed to Byetta 3 - 4 months ago (with Pioglitazone) - no lows; lost 12 lbs (and thrilled) but morning reading is now 10.

Is that a concern?

Thanks.

Hi gmee.
Welcome to the forum. There is a very large Byetta user thread here. Have a read there and elsewhere to see if there is anything which may be of help to you.

As a T2 your NICE guideline Bg levls to aim for are as follows.
Fasting (waking)............between 4 - 7 mmol/l.
2 hrs after meals...........no more than 8.5 mmol/l.
IOf you can get those post meal readings lower so much the better.

So, a 10 on waking is not too good. This could be down to the dawn phenmenon effect or just diet related. There is also the possibility that you may be coming down with something so affecting Bg levels. Difficult to pin it down without some more detail. What you ate last night pre bed, last nights reading, was the 10 immediately on waking ? etc.
