Byetta once a week injection

I am in the USA and currently a Type 2 diabetic. Last January of 2011 my doctor put me on metphormen and asked if I wanted to go on this experimental drug called Byetta. Of coarse you dont know if your given the placebo or the real thing. However after agreeing to doing this study Ican report with great sucess that ot truly must be the real thing for me. My A1c was 7.5 in January 2011 it now is 5.9 in January of 2012. I have lost almost 60 pounds as well as this durg also helps with weight loss. I havent changed my diet at all either. I just find I eat less and am not hungry like I use to be. My blood sugars are great and I am feeling great. I havent had any side effects at all either so overall this drug is working great! Praise God! I hope if anyone else has any good news to share on thier treatment they will as I would love to hear!I hope this drug will get the approval to be marketed.

Welcome to the Forum. It is always good to here about the experiences of people living with diabetes in the USA. Both forms of Exanatide - Byetta, the twice daily injection, and Bydureon, the once weekly injection, are approved for use in the UK. I was on Byetta for 9 months and started on Bydureon today. I have done well on Byetta and hope that the good work continues with Bydureon.
