Hi

I wonder if someone could help - I have been using byetta for just a couple of days and tonight after my injection I noticed there are a few air bubbles in my pen. I check the FAQ on the byetta website but all they say is "an air bubble won't harm you". Do I need to do anything? Did I get my dose (I wonder because my bg tonight was 17 which is high for me (although I know your bg fluctuates a lot at first).

I haven't been leaving my needle.

Can someone please help as my clinic nurses won't be there this weekend and my chemist has never given this to anyone before.

Thanks very much
A much worried Norma.

Hi Norma,

An air bubble is normal in your Byetta pen. Each time you insert a new needle a tiny amount of air is allowed into the chamber. Over the course of the month you will gradually see that bubble get bigger and bigger. This is normal and nothing to worry about.

Thanks Dennis - I was hoping you'd know.:)

I panicked because on the leaflet it said to expect one bubble, but I had one big one and then loads of smaller ones - my BG are quite high so I thought maybe the dose wasn't getting pushed out.

Maybe I need to be careful how to insert the needle to avoid this?

Thanks again - hope everyone's weekend is going well!
