FOOTBALL. MY husband is a sports fanatic and watches everything. Most i can put up with just not football.
Hi, i know there is a lot of postings on here but i cant find the answers i'm looking for. I have been told that if the meds i'm on now don't work i will be going on byetta and if i go on it i have to be under the hospital care. Is that just to show me how to use it or for some other reason? My hospital is 27 miles away and dont fancy having to go there much. A 54 mile round trip costs. :think:

I had to enter the hospital service when I asked to go on Byetta as my GP could not prescribe it. I never found out why. Perhaps because it is an injectable. Fortunately, the part of the hospital service I was referred to was its intermediate service which is run by a GP with Special Interest in Diabetes and I was seen at a local healthcentre. I have continued at that clinic since going on to Bydureon although my own GP wants me to attend her diabetic clinic as well!! As you are to go on byetta (exenatide), you might want to mention going on Bydureon (which is also exenatide) instead. Byetta is a twice a day injection and Bydureon is a once weekly injection. Both are now approved by NICE.

once a week sounds fantastic but is there a difference in the strengths? They try to start you on the lowest first dont they and the cheapest. I noticed your on statins but you have low cholesterol why is that?
 
Hi

Bydureon comes in one strength and is equivalent to the higher of the 2 Byetta doses - and most people end up on the higher Byetta dose. The other issue with Byetta is that it needs to be injected an hour before meals whereas Bydureon is injected anytime on the same day each week.

When I was diagnosed with diabetes my cholesterol was about 5.5. It is now down to very good levels thanks to the statin.
