Hi all.
Today was an important day for me, fasted since 7pm last night till 9.30am this morn.
Had the "works" blood test for C peptide, thyroid function test, liver , cholestrol levels, HbA1c
fasting glucose, plus other boxes n bumpf were ticked to be tested ...
After the test I rushed back home for a lovely cuppa coffee!
Results will be in by this friday, have booked an appointment to see my DSN next monday to discuss
all results in from this fasting bloods test.
Will be asking for a print out of the results too also.
Am keen to know just 'what is what' and IF I am negative or positive peptide results...?
Anna.

Hi Anna!

So glad you finally got them done! I hope you get conclusive results :D Remember, the most important phrase for you on Friday is 'So what does that mean?'

Keep in mind that a positive GAD test almost certainly means Type 1/1.5, negative does not rule out Type 1/1.5. C-peptide tells you how much insulin you are producing.

Really good luck! Let us know how you get on!

Hi all...
Got a new mantra " so what does that mean " will certainly use this on
next monday when I see my DSN for the full rundown print out n explanation
of my bloods results .
Thanks smidge
Personally I strongly feel too few of us ask the right questions and unless we
start to ask them, the HCP's explain/reveal little explanations... to both test results
AND the complexities of diabetes complications and conditions.
Anna.

Hi all.
Today is the day!
Appointment later with DSN to discuss all the fasting blood tests from last monday.
Spent yesterday getting the lab ranges written down on paper !
Dug these up from posts and threads, plus diabetes UK.
[lab's can use varying range results]
Ready to check against my results...
Weirdly since last thursday my BG's have shot upwards again, on thurday was
sitting at 19, in the early 20's over the weekend and they were 24.3 last night.
Have cranked up the insulin basal to give me more background cover.
Havent had no cold, illness, etc to cause this but was very weary n drained on thursday.
Am 'always' peaking then troughing without good reason.
Can hold steady for couple of weeks then up or down I go !
Leaving me peaking and troughing wildly...
Its so frustrating as I deliberately stay focused and use my routine that works,
to try and PREVENT this from happening.
Any one able to help with this?
Anna.

I can't help you with your blood sugars going up randomly but I can sympathize with how high they go.

I just wanted to offer some support and encouragement - I hope you get the results you want!

(((HUGS)))
