So is the consultant saying your c-peptide has to be a certain level to give you insulin? Surely if you are a confirmed type 1 having to exercise to control levels you should be on insulin????I'm excited because atm i m in limbo with my diagnosis, looking forward to the carb counting because atm i m on nothing!!!have to control my sugars with exercise so insulin for me would be a great help

Sorry, i don't understand, so you came off insulin all together?? .. how long have you not been using insulin for? you have been trying to get your sugars down using diet and exercise alone?! this doesn't make sense... If you are Type One you need insulin, yes your insulin intake may have been lowered due to the honey moon period but to just not have any insulin at home to use seeing as your sugar levels have been in the double figures is not right?!

Despite being on the max doses of Metformin and Glicazide, plus a daily dose of long-acting insulin, my HbA1c was up over 85. The did a c-peptide test saying it was 'very unlikely' I was T1. When the result came back that I was indeed T1, they put me on a standard T1 regime of basal + rapid and the next HbA1c was 55.So when you say levels rising, what figures are you getting and have you discussed them with your team? Sorry to be nosy but I'm fascinated by the idea they are using this result to decide when you start insulin.
So you were treated at type 2 so cpeptide makes sense, op knows they are type 1 so why is the c-peptide needed?Despite being on the max doses of Metformin and Glicazide, plus a daily dose of long-acting insulin, my HbA1c was up over 85.
