Call me The Hamster (Treadmill question)

And I absolutely love the concept of someone in Russia helping someone out on a UK website by searching in Dutch webshops!)

Hahahaha, I'm also sometimes amused by the thought of where my desire to talk about what bad people (I want to use a harsher word, but the moderation of this forum does not allow me) Banting and Best were took me :hilarious:

Thankfully we have the PM function. ;)
I'm afraid using Russian or Dutch won't work, our mods have access to google translate as well and besides, we don't want to give them extra work.

I think with your goal being walking as much as you want, exercising exactly that makes the most sense.

Yeah. And you'll need a car to transport the thing, which will be driven by Kornelis or one of your parents in law anyway, so you can simply stay in the car and avoid people while they do the exchange of money/treadmill.

I strongly second looking second hand. If it turns out it isn't to your liking it's much better to have thrown away 60 euros than at least 300.
I agree with you on the one @Zhnyaka linked looking good though. (And I absolutely love the concept of someone in Russia helping someone out on a UK website by searching in Dutch webshops!)

I had a look on Marktplaats for you, there's lots on offer under 100 euros, and like @AndBreathe said, you can look up make and model before reacting. Those things usually get resold after having been used 6 times in early januari, they're as good as new and people want to get rid of them because seeing it every day confronts them with failed new year's resolutions every day.
You're going from the assumption that Kornelis and my in-laws are comfortable with people. They're not as bad as I am, (I mean, they function, whereas I decidedly do not), but none of them enjoy the Marktplaats experience. If I'm not willing to go through it myself, I'm not about to ask any of them to. ;) But, I did see quite a few offer the possibility to send it over... Now there's an idea. ;) But yeah, I'm taking a little time to take my pick... No room for it at the moment in the house anyway, and leg not up for it yet, so... I have a little time. I hope. ;)

I love walking and have been tempted to get a treadmill or walking pad so many times … for those days you can’t get outside etc

However …. And don’t laugh lol …. I don’t like anything that’s makes you think you’re moving or vice versa…. Like escalators, travelators etc so I always held off buying a treadmill

Recently had a stress test involving a treadmill…. Let’s just say it didn’t go well and I’m so glad I never bought one !

However in the interest of fairness I do know lots of people who love theirs …. Just not for me I’ll stick to walking

Thankfully I know I'm okay on one due to the use of my physio's. Otherwise I might've been worried too. (I tend to get motion sickness).

Not a runner either, (6km per hour at best, usually at 5,5 though) so that sounds fairly good and doable! I'd love to have my therapists's LifeFitness: already know how it works, which makes it less intimidating. But that'd take up an entire bedroom. So I believe you when you say you have a beast... Those things can turn out rather massive! (And I just looked up the cost... We spent decidedly less on our car, so a big one isn't an option whatever way we turn it, haha!)

I'll check out those walking pads... See what's available that way. Thank you! (And good luck with the ligaments!)
Jo
I have mine in the garage and my hubby got it for me practically brand new as someone was moving and didn't have the room for it. He paid pittance for it so I was well chuffed! The walking pads are great, I have a client that is 82 and makes Tom Bosworth look like an amateur lol

Completely forgot to come back to this! Well, I have one now... And I've worked my way up to 7 kilometers a day in distance, without too many problems. (Beyond that, the hurt sets in, but I'm working on it!). Didn't go for a pad because my gait is wonky, and I have a hard time walking in a straight line. The bars on the side keep me from falling off. (As it turns out, one achilles tendon is shorter than the other, which explains a lot!).

I'm glad I posted here, it helped make some decisions! Thanks, people!
