I read somewhere on the forum yesterday (I think) about this subject and a post gave a very good description but I can't find it now. OH and I had a deep conversation about this today and I told him he was wrong so I need this please.

At about 8 mins this is perhaps an oversimplified explanation but I hope it helps.

Dr. Harcombe does have a more in depth presentation on CICO but for the moment it eludes me.

I haven't seen any of the programmes or links but calories in have little relevance as different foods have different metabolic routes thru the body and differing amount of energy will be used in that metabolism. The result of that is that not all calories in are available for exercise energy or fat storage. What this means is the EU food labelling regs and others around the world are pretty useless and the calorie figure is best ignored. It would be much more useful if the calorie figure was dumped and the carb figure added.
