Hi, it sounds like me and you have the same team, I was basically told the same myself, but from the small amount of information I was given by the team a year or so ago an from what the good people of this forum have been saying I’d say that any kind of infection can cause blood sugars to rise, by how much I don’t know, but obviously I’m not a doctor or an expert on this by any means so the advice I’ve been given quite a lot is to speak to your team if you’re able to get in contact with them, and also the advice with the people on here is also very good, but again they will tell you that they’re not doctors either and to see your gp or team if possible. Hope you can get it rectified. Oh and what kit are you referring to? You should always have some ketone strips available to yourself (which I only knew about from the guys and girls of this forum) speak to your gp like I did to put them on a prescription for yourself

I know, tell me about it, I had to learn to carb count, learn how many units to inject at night of long lasting insulin it was quite scary at first but once you get the hang of it you’ll be ok, plus you have the kind people of this forum to give you some advice also.

Hi Marcia, the good news is, if you had been given lots of advice from the medics it would likely be wrong, much better to learn what you need to know from the good folks here, don’t panic, take your time and read read read would be my advice, then ask ask ask, best of luck.
