Hi

I went to the Doctor the other week cos I'd been feeling really tired & lightheaded for a couple of weeks.
After a whole load of blood test the only 1 that wasn't ok was my blood sugar test which came back at 3.2. I had only had 1 cup of tea that morning & no breakfast as my appointment was at 9am. I don't drink or smoke & im not overweight.

After speaking to the Doctor he has fobbed me of saying to look at my diet & if I still feel the same come back..
Can anyone please advise me if this is normal?

Hi
Normal people, by that I mean non-diabetics, can have a blood sugar that low if they've not eaten, I used 2 test my non-diabetic sister and she could be below 3 if she'd not eaten. Diabetes is diagnosed when a patient shows abnormally high blood sugar results, over 8 usually.
We are obviously not able to diagnose on this forum, that's for your doctor. It's not normal to feel light-headed and tired, but there are many possible explanations and skipping meals will not help, so maybe your doctor is on the right track. If you're still feeling the same go back and keep badgering your doctor till you get an explanation or he sends you for more tests.

Jus :)

It could well be that you are eating enough to fuel the body, causing low blood glucose levels, that will make you feel weak, light headed, shakey..

My mother in law, suffers this she doesn't eat enough then wonders why she faints in town  Last time this happened a couple of months, her friend made her listen to the paramedic and was taen into A&E, all tests heart monitoring etc that they done the only thing they found was a low blood glucose level..
