Hi., I've been looking online for diet advice & admit it's a little confusing! as I'm trying to loose a bit of weight & get into shape
Thinking a more fruit & protein diet would be more beneficial but wondered if anyone had some advice on what to eat or could recommend a suitable cookbook?

Providing you wish to lose weight then you can reduce or try to cut out things containing flour and/or sugar. This is not a good idea for people who are already underweight. You could also eat smaller portions of potato and rice but don't punish yourself too much. Many people on this site have successfully lost weight when they were primarily trying to control their blood sugar levels.

I stole this from the diet doctor site.

Note for diabetics
  • Avoiding the carbohydrates that raise your blood sugar decreases your need for medication to lower it. Taking the same pre-low-carb diet dose of insulin might result in hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). You need to test your blood sugar frequently when starting this diet and adapt (lower) your medication. This should ideally be done with the assistance of a knowledgeable physician. If you’re healthy or a diabetic treated either by diet alone or just with Metformin there is no risk of hypoglycemia.
