Hi there. My LDL levels are 4 times the normal level according to my doctor. My HDL levels are very low. I do not cook with oil but boil or use a non-stick pan. Ever since I came back on to psych meds in August my cholesterol has been rising. So the doctors have not said that the meds are to blame but instead say it is my diet and have arranged for me to see another dietician. I'm wondering what else could be causing the increase of cholesterol, could it be because I do use some white sugar still?

It sounds as if you are on a low fat diet so yes, diet could be a factor. Try to add some butter and coconut oil for example. Also there are a lot of good cholesterol you-tube links on the forum, have a look around.

My LDL went up when my thyroid packed in, this is more common in women than in men though.
