Can Doctors prescribe Victoza

Your Doctor MAY be able to prescribe Victoza.......it all depends on the PCT in your area as they control the 'purse strings'.

We do have Member's who have had it prescribed by an ordinary GP, although I would have thought he/she would have taken advice first. It is normally prescribed by a Consultant but as with all things.......things change over time. SO the answer would be MAYBE.......you may need a referral.

There is a criteria for it's prescription which is usually being on two or more anti-Diabetic drugs, Bg levels out of control ranges and a BMI of 35 or more. Sometimes this criteria is ignored.

Is UC ulcerative Collitis? If so, sorry for being nosey, but are you still UC after the op? Or have I nominated UC to the wrong illness?

My best friend had Ulcerative Coilitis, he died 3 years ago, -nothing to do with UC or diabetes.
I know how very ill, he was before being diagnosed, and how he tried to keep himself healthy. I didn't realise there was an operation. I know of all the drugs he used to take, and the blood tests he had to go for.
You are the first person I know (albeit by posting!!!-LOL!!) that also was diagnosed with it. Sorry for being nosey. UC still interests me.
I too used to have B12 injections for Pernicious Anemia, -until it was undiagnosed last year as being a misdiagnosis!!! Been ok since Oct 2009 without the injections- I even went to Bridgend to have an infusion of B12 and vitamins and minerals privately in the September prior to my last injection because I was feeling so bad....since then it has all been undiagnosed-and my B12 and folic has stayed good!!!!

My other half had UC / toxic megacolon a few years ago and a pouch constructed a couple of years later, so I'm familiar with what you've gone through. Are you still on steroids at any points? They cause havoc with blood sugars.
