My sensor has expired and I have decided to have a break. Can I put a new one on and not activate it just yet. Let my body get used to it and then start a fresh maybe tomorrow or the next day?

A lot of people actually do this, they put a new sensor on 24 hours before they need to to let it settle before starting it. As long as you have the means to be able to still test your sugars in the mean time it’s not an issue.

Just don't lose the applicator because you'll need the code on its side in order to activate the new sensor. (Assuming the dexcom one is like the G6 which I believe it is.)

I put Libre on around 12 hours before the old one expires so I don’t get those weirdly low values that give me false hope.

As a type 1 i don’t think it's OK for you to stop testing full stop so you'd still need to do finger prick tests if not using the sensors
(But I'm not type 1, only my opinion that I might have gleaned from here. Or is it only test if feel symptoms???) Experienced T-1s please help

Don’t worry I’m still doing finger pricks!
