Can I test HbA1c at home

Yes, you can test it yourself. There are a few suppliers of home blood tests that provide this. The cheapest is Monitor My Health, which uses an NHS lab, so the results should be accepted by a GP:

You can also check out Thriva and Medichecks, both of whom offer HbA1c tests.

There is also a test called A1C now, which allows you to get the result pretty instantly, rather than sending to a lab. However, its a bit less accurate, and unless you get it on offer, not a whole lot cheaper than monitor my health:

I been pricking myself for the GlucoNavii daily glucose test. For this I only need a tiny drop and hence only a tiny prick. For the HbA1C, is it the same process except squeezing more blood into the tube? Or do I need to make a deeper prick?

You'll need more blood - they send some scary looking lancets. They're not as painful as they look!!

I'm difficult to get blood out of, so find it a bit tricky but doable. Just make sure your hands are warm. If you bleed easily it should be no problem.
 
Don't know if you will ever read this, I know this is late. You say you are hard to get blood out of. I was once, but I was told to drink a full glass of water just before going for a blood test and it's worked ever since. It opens the veins more they told me.
 
I’ve used Monitor my Health recently. I think it was £30 and got the results back in a couple of days. My GP still wanted to do their own test though
