As far as I'm aware, no!

But it doesn't raise them too!

It's the only meds, that my endocrinologist has told me to use if I have aches and pains. Most meds that are over the counter contains sugar, because it does give you a sugar boost to make you feel better!

It is quite hard on the liver. OK to use once in a while but I personally would not use it regularly.

Has your G.P.advised you to take them for a specific condition and how long have you been taking them and are you using the maximum dose daily?
"Paracetamol is an effective treatment for mild to moderate pain and fever in adults and children, when used as directed in product information. The maximum dose within a 24-hour period must not be exceeded. However, if you find you need to use paracetamol on a regular basis, it is worth consulting your GP to look at the cause, and possible treatments. You may find your symptoms respond better to an alternative painkiller or possibly a non-drug type of treatment, such as physiotherapy...."

I've only had type 2 for less than 2 months, but I've been on 8 paracetamol a day for more than 45 years.

I have not detected any effects of the paracetamol on my BG levels.

When the liver gets used to processing it like also alcohol in an alcoholics liver Then one can take more and not block the liver as much or maybe the liver grows somewhat to get around the continuois burden

Frequent use can impact negatively on liver function. Take it a lot and you risk serious liver damage. I wouldn't be using that to lower sugars, if that is the plan.

Hi @leong,
Like the posters above, I have never heard that paracetamol lowers blood sugar levels.

However, what you have observed might be related to stress. Many of us have experienced that stress can raise blood sugar levels. Maybe you were stressed because of the pain and taking a pain reliever lessened the pain and consequently the stress. Not sure that this is what happened, but it might be a possibility.

I think I understand why - this is just a theory - we all know BG rises when we have an infection or are under a lot is stress. I know mine rises considerably when I've got a stress related headache. So maybe the paracetamol is reducing the symptoms of the infection or headache and its the reduction in symptoms that is lowering BG rather than the paracetamol itself. If you see what I mean. :)

I'm probably wrong but I can't think of another reason offhand.

Hi one and all, last week when I saw my hospital consultant with my drug list ,she asked me why I was on Paracetamol and I told her it was for pains in my joints and then she said ,"do you suffer from sweating?" which I do and was advised to stop which I have
