Hi .
I know this is bit of a unusual question.
After taking 2 lots of strong antibiotics, I am with the side effects of taking these, 'thrush' .
Been taking the canesten duo pack to treat it accordingly.
My BG levels are STILL high, and am curiously wondering IF thrush can affect them???
Anyone know?
Have been taking the care and efforts to watch my diet, wrap up well when go out, back on the insulin/victoza routine.
They were starting to dip a teeny bit, then 'WHOOP' up they went in a matched dance  with my thrush kicking in! This is why I am curious to know if does affect the BG levels.

Hi

You may not be aware that high BS levels e.g. above about 11 mmol can cause sugar to be dumped in the urine and this then causes thrush. It was a problem I had at diagnosis until my BS came down. So, although antibiotics can upset the balance it may be your high BS?

Hi All
I suffer with thrush a lot but I dont think it affect by my sugar levels, I have been using Canesten cream for years and my sugars have been of a good level, but when they rose above 10 mmol I would inject more insulin to bring the level down. I am not sure wheather if you had a high BG level for a few hours that it would bring on thrush?
I was told a bout 20 years ago by a DSN that antibiotics cause thrush, something I learnt from the DSN all that long ago. I alway thought thrush was a womens thing but as the DSN explained to me it s common with diabetes, but when I had to take antibiotics years ago from my GP,s they have never mentioned it may bring on thrush.

Hi there, as Daibell said, it is the high sugars that cause the thrush in the first place I think, as it feeds on sugar. It was from going back and for to the doctors because of thrush in my mouth, throat and elsewhere which kept coming back, that I was diagnosed wth my diabetes x
