I have been T1 for 30 years (diagnosed when i was 5) Recently my mental health has declined and have no appetite so blood glucose was constantly low (ranging from 2.9 - 6.2) I was taking Humalog Mix 25 (twice a day) and lowered my dosages to help. My diabetes team told me that i was changing over to Novarapid and Solostar as it was a better regrime and it would be better and i would never look back again. Three months later and im doing anywhere between 6-10 injections daily, out of control throughout the day and honestly scared to even eat at this point because anything i comsume just sends my diabetes up the wall, which inturn has made my mental health decline further and now given me an eating disorder. I dont eat anything all day apart from a protein breakfast drink in the morning and a really small evening meal around 5pm. Spoken the "diabetic team" and given me a ratio of 1-10 carbs. Ive been telling them that its wrong but been told to stick at it and i have for three months, They have said they will calculate it all for me.

But my question to my fellow diabetes who understand this better than anyone else can....can i request to go back onto my Humalog mix 25? Apart from a small issue with eating i was stable with that regrime. It was working for me. I was able to work and have a life. Im currently uncontrolled so unable to hold down a job, mentally worse and drained from doing more injection....they lied and told me it will be better for me but i feel its just been better for them. I refuse a pump. Ive researched over the years and its not for me but i feel they will try and push this onto me next after causing the issue. I am actively putting in a complaint to them as well for lack of communication and support. They are meant to ring me weekly but not heard from them in a month. I had to visit an urgent care centre last weekend just to get advice.

So again, can i change back to my original regrime and how easy is it to go back to humalog mix 25 after the long and short regrime? And if you have changed back, how did the transition go?

Yes you can request to go back to your previous insulin regime.
However, in your position, with what I know about basal bolus regime, I would persevere and demand my doses were reviewed. You should not be afraid to eat. It is affecting your mental (and maybe physical) health
Do you have the option to go on a DAFNE course? This would help you understand your insulin and learn to adjust it yourself.
If not, I recommend first doind a basal test. If you are injecting soany times a day but only eating one meal, it suggests to me your basal dose is incorrect.
Once that is sorted, you can work on your insulin to carb ratio. 1:10 is a common starting point but many of us vary from this. Plus, at different times of the day, we can have different levels of insulin sensitivity so the ratio can be different for different meals
It sounds as 8f your clinic are simplifying it too much for you and not giving yourself a chance to learn

Final thought, 8f DAFNE is not an option, there is an online version called Bertie.
