Cannula sites

Hi,

Ive been using the inset II with my pump for around 2 months now and usually insert it in my stomach. I then decided to rotate my sites more often. I have used my thighs and above my waist line a few times and they were fine.

Recently each time I insert it into my thighs or top of my buttock cheek my blood sugar shoots up into the 20s and I normally Don't go above 8/9. Once the cannula was kinked, another time it had blood in the cannula but none in the tubing, however the other 3 times the cannula has seemed to be totally normal.

I use the shortest length cannula at 90 degrees. I would class my build as slightly bigger than average

can anyone give me some advice about this and what you would recommend to do as I cant keep using my stomach all the time as it will become lumpy?

thanks

Hello

I also use the Inset II sets and only use my stomach and hips. I have been pumping a year and have come across many people who only use this area for a long time with no issues. I don't have any fat on my legs or arms so those aren't options for me.

I rotate on my right side moving from just above the bikini line right out to on my hip as far round as I can get. Next I do the same thing on the left side. Finally I go across my front, just under the ribs. Doing this means I don't come back to the same area for at least 6 weeks so plenty of time to heal. If you want to use other areas you might find angled sets better, like the Inset 30.

With regards to your high BG there might be an issue with the batch of Insets you are using. I have had some funny things going on with some of mine recently and I know I'm not the only one. I would try some sets from a new batch to see if this helps.
