Cannula stinging

I put in a new cannula on Friday and every since when I bolus, it stings quite badly, even small amounts of insulin stings going in- does anyone know what this is a sign off - thanks
 
I haven't started on the pump get but have started training so someone can correct me if I'm wrong but we were taught that any signs of discomfort or pain etc means something is wrong with the set and it should be replaced x
 
A good resource for pumping is "pumping insulin" by John Walsh. Also "think like a pancreas" definitely worth purchasing both!
 
sometimes they sting and work well, other times they don't. if it's working keep it in, if it's too painful pull it and do a new one

What delivery speed have you got the pump set at? Also are you using insulin or do you have saline going through it?
 
I think it just means you've placed the set near a nerve. I get a "stinger" every so often. Significantly less so now that I've set my delivery to the slower setting (Menu > Setup > Delivery - Slow on the Vibe), so definitely worth looking at that, as CarbsRok suggests. They're rarely bad enough for me to pull the set and put a new one in, but if it is really bothering you (or you're getting any signs the set isn't working correctly) that's the best way to solve the problem.

This might just be the cause of your problem I've noticed quite a few people saying they have a problem when using saline.
If the problem persists when using insulin do make sure you have the slow speed for delivery set on your pump. Animas do seem to do a high speed delivery for some reason. Another option to explore is try a different length of cannula.
