Hi I posted yesterday with regards to feeling rough and sugars being high but woke up this morning and bs was 13.9, had breaky which was 20g of carbs which I bolused for, went for a 13 mile mountain bike ride and checked bs again... 10.5 so took adjustment bolus.
1.5 hrs later bs has risen to 15.5? Feeling a bit run down.. Head cold like symptoms plus lack of energy. Been on lchf diet for around 6 weeks now and bs has been spot on. Now it's all gone t#*s up! Training for an ironman and finding training tough due to sugars all over the place etc etc etc! What to do? I've never used the illness mode on my pump (30% extra bolus) is it time to try it?
Cheers

Just follow the Sick Day Rules, you should have been given some information on this when you started on the pump.

Hope you feel better soon.

It could be illness, or it could be insulin resistance. Two possible causes: combining high fat and carbs. You may be on LCHF but are you taking extra carbs when exercising?
The other possibility is temporary insulin resistance caused by competition stress or by muscle soreness. Or of course it could be illness. But whatever it is, the sick day rules - a rise in your basal rate may very well help.

Hi RuthW
Have been using the illness setting on my pump today (30% extra bolus) and also had my basal rate set to 30% extra all day and sugars have been around 6 all day so happy with that. Pretty sure I've picked up some kind of bug so just gotta sit it out now. Cheers

OK today my bs have started crawling back up even tho I'm using the illness settings on my pump? If I go to the Dr's he'll ask for symptoms which I don't really have except for my sugars higher than normal so he won't prescribe any medication. Do I just sit it out?

Hmmm just been reading that some t1s bolus for fat which I don't do as up to a few days ago all was good. Should I be?
